General Lewis Inn, Lewisburg, West Virginia

General Lewis Inn, Lewisburg, West VirginiaThe General Lewis Inn, an historic country inn and restaurant in Lewisburg, West Virginia, is the ideal setting for a weekend getaway, adventure on crystal blue water or trip back into time in the beautiful Greenbrier Valley of West Virginia, surrounded by the Allegheny mountains.

The inn is located on the site of an 1862 Civil War Battle. Civil War and Revolutionary history lives around every corner of our historically preserved town. Beginning with your meticulously clean, cozy bedroom, you will find yourself surrounded by period pieces of early American history in 25 very different guest rooms.

Dining at the General Lewis Inn features the finest menu in the area. Highly recommended is the West Virginia Rainbow Trout. Enjoy specialty foods, hot homemade breads and desserts, wine, mixed drinks and beer.

Memorabilia of the resourcefulness of mountain pioneers are displayed in Memory Hall's collections of tools, guns, household utensils and musical instruments. Many are handmade relics fashioned from parts of covered wagons. Throughout the Inn are numerous old cupboards filled with early glass pottery, china, and curios.

The main street of Lewisburg, Washington Street, is just below the General Lewis Inn. Stroll through five blocks of unique shops, the type of shops you would expect to find in Alexandria, Georgetown or Williamsburg.

The Greenbrier Valley is one of the most culturally alive areas of West Virginia. Attend a musical performance at one of the three surviving Carnegie Halls in the United States. The Greenbrier Valley Theatre is the state’s only year round professional theater. Don’t forget to bring your sweater because our evenings are always comfortably cool.

The surrounding Allegheny Mountains offer plenty of outdoor activities, such as mountain biking, excellent fishing, canoe and rafting, and hiking trails.
